Kossie cops four-match ban
18 October 2006 | 21:39 - AAP
Adelaide United coach John Kosmina has been banned from the technical area for the next four A-League rounds for grabbing Melbourne Victory captain Kevin Muscat around the throat last weekend.
Kosmina was automatically suspended from the technical area for one match after being expelled from there in the 87th minute of the game at Telstra Dome last Sunday.
Disciplinary arbitrator Tony O'Reilly handed out an additional five-match ban from the technical area, though two of those were suspended.
Those two games, along with an undisclosed monetary fine, were suspended but would be invoked if Kosmina were sanctioned for any misconduct during the remainder of the regular season.
The often outspoken and talkative Adelaide coach refused to comment on his punishment as he left the FFA headquarters in Sydney with Adelaide United board member and barrister Pat Amery.
Amery wouldn't comment either, but Kosmina indicated with a shake of his head in the lift that he wouldn't appeal against the decision.
He will be barred from the Adelaide technical area from rounds 9-12.
He will be allowed to return to the area for the round 13 clash with Sydney FC on November 19 at Aussie stadium.
The incident which led to Kosmina being cited for violent conduct occurred after Muscat chased after the ball when it ran out of play.
Muscat knocked Kosmina out of his chair in the technical area as he went to retrieve the ball.
Kosmina then reacted by grabbing the Melbourne skipper around the throat.
Muscat was booked for his part in the incident, but declined an invitation to appear at the hearing, which lasted 50 minutes, with O'Reilly taking a similar amount of time to reach his decision.
Adelaide had previously announced it would punish Kosmina separately, though it has yet to announce what form of disciplinary action it would take.
