Claudinho leaves Victory

Melbourne Victory striker Claudinho has left the A-League Premiers by mutual consent.

The 24-year-old Brazilian failed to make much impact in Australia, playing just five times and scoring once - in a 2-0 win over Adelaide United in the opening round of the season.

"Rather than hold Claudinho until the end of the season and see out his contract, we wanted to do the right thing and let him go back to Brazil," Victory coach Ernie Merrick said.

"We're considering signing a young player to replace him, but we haven't made a final decision yet."
