Police have praised the behaviour of the crowd at the A-League clash between Melbourne Victory and Adelaide United in Melbourne on Sunday night.

Melbourne beat Adelaide 2-1 in the match at Telstra Dome.

Three people were evicted from the stadium during the match, and two others were arrested out of a crowd of 47,000, Superintendent Mick Williams said.

One person was arrested for drunkenness and the other for assault, he said.

"The crowd was noisy and very passionate about the game, but the behaviour was good," Supt Williams said.

"Police, Telstra Dome officials and soccer officials were very pleased with the crowd behaviour."

"We all hope the final to be played in two weeks' time will go as well."
