Four new players for Perth
2 March 2007 | 13:31 - SBS
Perth Glory has signed four new players for the 2007/08 A-League season and re-signed midfielder Naum Sekulovski.
Former Glory players Anthony Danze and Billy Celeski have rejoined the club, which has also snapped up West Australian defender Dino Djulbic and AIS graduate Jimmy Downey. Sekulovski has agreed a new one-year deal.
"We're excited about the addition of these players to the squad and I expect in the coming weeks we'll have a similar number again who'll join the club," Glory head coach Ron Smith said.
Danze returns to the Glory after a two-year spell in England with Crystal Palace, while Celeski also returns after playing for the club in the inaugural A-League campaign.
Downey and Djulbic both trained with Perth last season and have done enough to earn their first A-League contracts.
Smith also said he will move Sekulovski back into a midfield role after the 24-year-old spent part of last season at left-back.
"Last year Naum ended up playing at left-back because of circumstances and applied himself extremely well. This season I'll be looking at playing him in a more attacking role," Smith said.
The club now has 15 contracted squad members for next season.
"Without letting the cat out of the bag, we're pretty well down the line with some contract negotiations and that'll continue until we have their signatures in black and white."
"I'll spend a few days in Europe to have a look at some players we've identified and to finalise the contract of one particular player which will be a big announcement if it comes off at the right time."
